Attendance Procedures

This year, we will be introducing a new attendance protocol through the OnTime system. Upon entering the school building, students will use their Student ID to check in at designated iPads throughout the building. Students must scan in by 7:45 AM on regular school days. Students are still required to be present in their Homeroom by 7:45 AM for morning announcements. If a child is absent, parents/ guardians will be notified via text of their child’s absence at 9:30 AM and will have the ability to excuse the absence digitally. For students with a scheduled late start (BCTC, Internship, College Study, etc.), an absence notification will not be issued until 12:30 PM. Parents are permitted, per state attendance regulation, to give 10 excusals per school year. Written excuses will still be accepted by the high school office within 3 school days of the absence. For a medical excusal, vacation, college visit, etc., please continue to submit the proper paperwork to the high school office. For more information on school attendance, please visit the high school website or call the high school office at 610-683-7346.

BCTC Students

This is a reminder that BCTC East and West are open on Monday, August 25. The buses will depart from the high school at 7:40 am. Students choosing to attend will need to provide transportation to KAHS and home. Traditional bus transportation starts on Tuesday.

KAHS FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS

Kutztown High School will follow a 2-hour delay bell schedule. We will follow the letter day, with connections at the end of the day. During connections, all teachers will be reachable online.

Students must visit their teachers' Canvas pages to find links to Google Meet sessions and homework. On days with flexible instruction, students will adhere to their regular schedule, which starts with a homeroom check-in. Students log onto their teacher's Canvas page for instructions for the class period. The day will be structured around providing instructional assistance and related services, like speech and occupational therapy and special education support.

Should students experience technology failure, parents will call the building attendance number to confirm that students are in attendance and are completing the day’s learning activities, which they will turn in when school resumes in person. For students who experience difficulty logging on to their homeroom, please email Mrs. Rohrbach at jrohrbach@kasd.org.

BCTC Students: BCTC students should click on HERE for attendance. If you have BCTC responsibilities, please follow your instructor's recommendations.
